Purpose in the Storm

A woman seated next to my sister responded, “I’m a doctor, ” and she moved quickly to assist.  A passenger was experiencing a severe panic attack right before our eyes.  Many of us began to pray immediately.  The doctor attended to the passenger, while the flight attendants tried to comfort his family—all while we were sitting on the tarmac in the midst of a severe thunderstorm.

After several minutes, the pilot turned the plane around and returned to our departure gate.  Emergency personnel and vehicles had arrived to assist the passenger, and, although struggling, he was able to walk off the plane with assistance.

Once we left the gate for the second time, the pilot announced the storm had passed over us.  We were able to take off safely, and our flight continued without any other complications.

God allowed us to encounter the storm from a position of safety.  Although we had no idea the passenger was in distress, God knew, and He protected the man and allowed him to receive the care he needed—all while we were sitting on the tarmac in a storm.  If we had taken off as planned, not only would we have encountered the severe storm, but the man would have gone into distress while we were in the sky.  God used the storm to get the man the care he needed.
