The Sweetest Reminder

This morning as I was walking and enjoying a brisk breeze outside, I asked our Father, “What will You have me to say to Your daughters today?” He did not respond immediately, so I continued to walk and just breathe Him in. (Have you taken a moment to just breathe Him in? If not, you should try it today. Stop everything, close your eyes, and breathe deeply. Open yourself to His presence.)

I simply waited, listening for that still voice, and God’s response made my heart smile. He said, “Tell them that I love them, I see them, and I hear them.” Such simple words, but my heart is so full right now. That led me to Jeremiah 31:3:

The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.”

I know that God loves me, really loves me. I do. He has shown me that in the most awesome ways throughout my life. The fact that His love is everlasting is truly amazing to me, because I am not deserving of that love. But His love is not based on what I deserve; it’s based on Who He is. He truly has drawn me to Him—even this morning, I could feel Him all around me. But His message today was not just that He loves us.

God Loves You Even on Your Worst Days

We know God loves us.  His Word reminds us over and over.  We know that God so loved the world that He gave His only Son for us.  We know that He loves us with an everlasting love.  We all know that, right?  But have you ever had one of those days when you just feel unlovable to anyone, including God?  Have you ever felt so far from God because of your failures or shortcomings?

I read something recently that I had to just meditate on:  God loves you on your worst days.  I read it over and over.

Talk about unconditional love!  We’ve been taught since we were children that when things get tough, you’ll find out who your real friends are.  I learned it in the midst of divorce, sickness, and periods of lack.  God reveals those who are meant to be your life-timers, people who will be there for the long haul.

But I’m referring to challenges that go even deeper than that.  I mean, have you ever felt distant from God?  And I’m not just talking about the separation that results from sin.  I’m talking about that feeling of just being far from God, even when you are praying, reading His word, doing what He’s telling you to do—and still feeling like you’re falling short or like you’ve somehow missed “it.”  It’s like that loneliness that Elijah felt right after God showed out on Mt. Carmel.  Elijah saw the supernatural move of God and then experienced one of his greatest lows.  Have you ever been there?

Lord, You Want Me To Do THAT?

Have you ever experienced a time when the Spirit of God instructed you to do something that you felt was way beyond your capabilities?  If so, you (and I) have a lot in common with a guy named Moses.

God knows who you are.  He knows what you carry on the inside.  His request is no coincidence; it is by design because you can only accomplish supernatural results with His help.  (“Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,” says the Lord of hosts.  Zechariah 4:6)

In Exodus 3, Moses encountered the burning bush; he was being called to duty by the Most High God.  Moses responded just like we do: “Who am I that I should go before pharaoh, and bring them out?  God, do You really know who I am?”
