How many of you have ever told the Lord, “I’m just not ready, God,” when He instructed you to complete a task, say a word, or step outside of your comfort zone? And it wasn’t that you were intentionally being disobedient; you genuinely felt like you just needed a little more time or that you needed some more resources to do what God instructed you to do in excellence. Well, I want to let you in on a little secret—that is the exact place you need to be in, the place where you realize that you cannot accomplish whatever it is without God. You fully understand that you are totally dependent upon the Lord.
John 15:5 (NLT) says it beautifully, “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.“
Apart from God, we can’t do anything! The key to being ready is not in your own ability. If you walk into a challenge thinking, “I got this!” without the Lord, you are in for a huge disappointment. Conversely, the next time you have to step into an opportunity, and you feel those “butterflies” in your stomach, lean right into that feeling and ask God to walk into that moment with you. Lean on His strength. Now, you are ready and can say, “Lord, we got this!”
