I sometimes have to remind myself to slow down. I can admit that there are moments when I think I have it all figured out. A challenge presents itself, and I’m ready to spring into action, confident that I can handle it on my own. (I know many of you do the same thing!) But we don’t have all the answers. Our view is limited, so we sometimes settle for “quick fixes”—we put some duct tape on that situation and keep it moving.
We can only see today—and maybe tomorrow, for those who are master planners. We can plan for days and months in advance, but we don’t actually know what lies ahead. But there is Someone who sees all, and He knows all—and His view is eternal. God doesn’t need duct tape to get you through the test, storm, or trial. He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all you can ask or think (Ephesians 3:20), and He can heal, restore, deliver, renew, and transform you and make you whole.
It’s easy to believe the myth that a few more dollars in your bank account is the answer to all of your prayers. But will that money give you peace? It’s easy to believe that a new man in your life will solve your loneliness, but how many of you know that you can be in a relationship and still feel all alone?
