Don’t Wait, Part Three: Focus on the Promise

Then, out of nowhere, I was offered a great job, but I had to turn it down because I had committed to completing the school year with my students.  I wasn’t distraught about the decision to decline the position.  I decided to just trust God and ask the Holy Spirit to nudge me toward the positions that I needed to apply to.

And the next thing I knew, I looked up and the school year was ending.  My stuff was all packed up.  I did not re-sign my lease.  I was ready to move, but I had no job prospects or even a place to live.  All I had was a promise from God.  But, Sisters—that was all I needed!  I just chose to believe God.

On the last day of the school year for staff, as I was preparing to say farewell to the colleagues I’d been working with for ten years, I got a phone call.  “How soon can you get here?  We want you.”  It was the job I’d declined just a few months earlier.

Ten days after that phone call, I was at my new job in a new city.  I left my family and my friends, and I traveled to a place where I didn’t know a soul.  And God has been blessing me ever since!
