I think about our society today and pray that God will literally save us from ourselves and have mercy on us all. We are just like the Israelites. God has blessed us with so much, and we are never satisfied. God promises, we start the process of manifesting the promise, and then it seems like the promise is just taking too long. Then, we start complaining. A little time passes. We realize we missed the mark, we repent, God forgives us, then He promises again, and then we complain. Again. Sisters, we have to do better.
Moses pleaded for mercy from God, asking God to reconsider so that people wouldn’t think that God couldn’t deliver on His promise. And then he gave God His own word (Numbers 14:18-19 NLT):
“The Lord is slow to anger and filled with unfailing love, forgiving every kind of sin and rebellion. But He does not excuse the guilty. He lays the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected—even children in the third and fourth generations.” In keeping with Your magnificent, unfailing love, please pardon the sins of this people, just as You have forgiven them ever since they left Egypt.
