Matthew 6:11 (NKJV) reads, “Give us this day our daily bread. (We recognize this verse from the Lord’s Prayer.) So, let me stop right here and give a few definitions of “bread,” according to Merriam Webster:
- A usually baked and leavened food made of a mixture whose basic constituent is flour or meal
- Food, sustenance
- Livelihood; money
God will provide bread for us each day. All we need to do is ask. He will nourish us mind, body, and spirit if we would only take our eyes off the circumstances around us and focus on God and His Word. God will sustain us, always.
Daily bread. That means I don’t have to go out and “make things happen.” I can sit at the table that is spread for me and receive the bread that I need for today, which includes the plan God has for me today. Sisters, it’s important that we learn how to focus on today—all the blessings that are right here in this day. Don’t miss out on today’s blessings because you are too focused on tomorrow’s worries. We don’t have to frustrate ourselves or worry constantly about provision—God provides His bread every day.
