The curtain that was torn was the one that closed off the Holy of Holies from view. (Remember, only the High priest had access.) That curtain represented a barrier between God and the people. But before Jesus Christ died, the barrier was split in two. As a result, the people could access the Presence of God. And today, we all can approach God directly through Jesus Christ. We don’t need someone else to go to Him on our behalf and present sacrifices for us. Jesus Himself was the most perfect sacrifice!
After the curtain split, Jesus surrendered Himself to God. (I entrust My spirit into Your hands.) In other words, Jesus said, “Father, I place myself—completely—into Your hands.”
Recite this short prayer and the take a deep breath:
Lord, I give you my spirit, my soul, and my very breath. Right now, I yield to You completely. In the matchless name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
Imagine if we actually placed our lives into God’s hands and allowed Him to lead us every single day. Instead of living lives of chance, we would live lives of purpose and meaning because we’d place our will, our desires, our plans, and our complete trust into God’s hands.
