Mostly Obedient

Well, guess what?  Saul got God’s attention.  God spoke to Samuel again and said, “I greatly regret that I have set up Saul as king, for he has turned back from following Me, and has not performed My commandments.” (verse 11)  That stings every time I read it.  I don’t ever want God to regret choosing me for anything!  Now keep in mind, Saul believed that he had done well in God’s sight.  He did defeat the Amalekites, right?  As a matter of fact, he listened to the people and planned to offer the best of the livestock as a sacrifice to God.  He was so pleased with himself.

In verses 18 and 19, Samuel said, Now the Lord sent you on a mission, and said, ‘Go, and utterly destroy the sinners, the Amalekites, and fight against them until they are consumed.’   Why then did you not obey the voice of the Lord? Why did you swoop down on the spoil, and do evil in the sight of the Lord?”

Ouch!  Remember, Sisters, mostly obedient is still disobedient.
