Lessons from the Fall

  • I experienced something new and was unafraid.  I was later reminded that my response was no surprise.  That is who I am.  I just get back up.  And, Sisters, that resilience has allowed me to not be afraid to fail or fall short.  I’ve learned the power in just stepping out to give it a try, because more often than not, the results tend to be phenomenal.  And if it doesn’t work out the way I thought it would, at least I can say that I tried.  It reminds me of Peter.  I know folks like to talk about how he took his eyes off Jesus and began to sink in the sea, but the last time I checked, there were only two people to walk on water:  Jesus and Peter.
  • Now, keep in mind, I did receive some scars and bruises (I jokingly call them battle scars), but that just made my adventure even more satisfying.  I was proud of myself for getting back up.  And in the days that passed, when a few aches came along the way, I smiled all over again, thinking about the entire ride.
  • Some of the bruises took days to manifest.  Now this one is deep.  It may take time for you to fully realize the effects of some decisions, challenges, experiences, trials, and battles that you encounter (spiritually, emotionally, or physically).  Sisters, extend yourself some grace.  It is okay to feel the effects.  It doesn’t make you weak; it just means that you are human.
