Lessons from the Fall

I’d like to share a few lessons I learned in those split seconds and later as the Holy Spirit provided deeper revelation to me on my way home.

  • First of all, God’s protection is real!!  It was not lost on me that some people experience a fall from a horse and are severely injured or even paralyzed.  God allowed me to brace myself and to fall in a way that didn’t lead to serious injury.  I was able to fall and to get right back up.
  • As for the fall itself, my decades on this earth have afforded me a body that could absorb that fall without hurting myself.  And I am grateful that God has allowed me to age gracefully with some extra cushion around those curves.  Sisters, remember, we are His masterpiece.  We have to learn to love the skin we’re in!
  • I saw the path ahead and was able to make a split-second decision.  Sisters, there are warning signs all around you when you are in a threatening situation.  Pay attention to the Holy Spirit and lean into your discernment.
  • I was wearing a helmet—the helmet of salvation—which prevented me from hitting my head.  Sisters, wear your spiritual armor every day.  It really does offer protection.  (Ephesians 6:10-17)
