What’s on Your Tree?

We sometimes get caught up on the appearance of people who seem like they have everything going for them.  They have huge homes and new cars.  They have lots of material things, so they must be living godly lives and reaping the blessings of God, right?  We see big and beautiful churches and assume that they must be doing God’s will because their buildings are so big and, aside from the pandemic, are packed with people.  We don’t realize that some of the people walking around with “everything” have nothing on the inside of them.  Some of those big, beautiful cathedrals are little more than big, empty tombs because God’s Presence does not reside in the building.  The material things and the large numbers of people, if they are not reflecting our Father and His attributes, are little more than leaves on a tree.  The Scripture said Jesus found nothing but leaves.  There was no evidence of fruit.

God is looking for fruit on your tree.  He desires that you prosper, don’t get me wrong.  But in all of your prosperity, are you sharing His word with others?  Are you acknowledging that you have been blessed by God and that you’d have nothing without Him?  Are you exhibiting His love and His grace to His people?  Are you living in obedience to His will and following His lead?  That is how you produce fruit that reflects the Lord.  And His desire is that you bear much fruit so that the Father will be glorified.  So, Sister, what’s on your tree?

Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.  (Matthew 12:33 NKJV)
