What’s on Your Tree?

In John 15:2 (NKJV), Jesus says, Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.”  Have you asked the Lord to prune you, to remove those branches and the fruit do not reflect Him?  It’s not comfortable, but it is so necessary!  That pruning produces more fruit.  And our desire should be to produce fruit that reflects our Father.

Let me give you a practical example.  My siblings and I look just like our dad.  There is no doubt that we are his children because his physical attributes are strong in each of us.  Do people know that you are a child of God from your attributes?  (And I mean without you wearing a t-shirt with a Scripture on it.)  Our goal should be to reflect the attributes of our Heavenly Father.

And it’s important to know that God is not impressed by your leaves; He wants fruit.

Now the next day, when they had come out from Bethany, He was hungry.   And seeing from afar a fig tree having leaves, He went to see if perhaps He would find something on it. When He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs.  In response Jesus said to it, “Let no one eat fruit from you ever again.” And His disciples heard it.  (Mark 11:12-14 NKJV)
