God Is Our Source

It reminds me of how God provided for Elijah in 1 Kings 17:2-6.

Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan.  And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.”

So he went and did according to the word of the Lord, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan.  The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook.

God told Elijah exactly where to go (eastward), what to do when he got there (hide by the Brook Cherith), and then told him what to expect (water to drink and ravens to feed him).

Elijah “went and did according to the word of the Lord.”  In other words, he did what God said to do, and as a result, he received provision from God.  The ravens brought him bread and meat.  Think about that!  He didn’t have to go hunting and searching.  Mealtimes were effortless.  The ravens brought food directly to him.  Isn’t that amazing?  God will use whatever means He desires to use to get a blessing to His people.  All Elijah had to do was obey.
