The Dinner Party

The host is covering the bill, so we’re not even concerned about the cost of the items on the menu.  We were allowed to order whatever we wanted, knowing that there would be consequences to the unwise choices we selected.  Our choices may have led to heartburn, dizziness, gas, a headache…  The host paid the bill, but we are responsible for our menu selections.  The sister who ordered 3 desserts when no one was paying attention…covered.  The sister who drank a little too much and got a little too loud…covered.

The host covered it all, but we were still accountable for our choices, right?

God showed me something in this quick little scene.  You see, we have a tendency to blame God when we choose things and they don’t work out the way we think they should, or in this case, sometimes we know exactly how it will turn out—and we still blame Him.  We might even try to hide things when we do make the wrong choice.  We hide in embarrassment when we fail.  We even try to hide our sins from God.  But are we really hiding our sins from God?  Of course not!  He sees all and He knows all.  Just like in the scene I described, the host saw the bill.  Nothing got past him.  He paid for it all, but he was also aware of it all.  (Let that sink in.)
