Today, I pray that “the eyes of your heart be enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which He has called you.” (Ephesians 1:18 ESV) In other words, I am asking God to allow your imagination to come alive again so that you will have a clearer vision of the dream that God has for you. He placed it inside you before the beginning of time. And I encourage you, especially anyone who thinks she may have missed it, to take another look. There is still time. That empty seat at the table is waiting for you to take your place. God has not forgotten you. He created you with a plan and a purpose. Sister, what are you waiting for? We need you!
When we were children, many of us had extraordinary imaginations. We could play for hours, with or without toys! We stayed outside all day, well, until the street lights came on, and there was never really a time when we couldn’t come up with something to do. We created new games, sang new songs, and came up with new dance routines. (Or was that just in my family?)
Unfortunately, after arriving at adulthood, many of us start to dream less when life becomes more complicated. We experience failure and heartache. That fearlessness we carried when we were children gets challenged when things happen beyond our control, and we trade in that courage and resilience for fear and doubt. Life happens. And some sisters believe they no longer have time to dream; life is just moving too fast. And with bills piling up, who has time to dream?
To anyone who is experiencing that feeling, that you don’t have enough time to dream, I’d like to offer this: whether or not you take the time to cultivate what’s on the inside of you, God placed something special in you. It’s in the very fiber of your being, and what you do with it is up to you. Sister, no one can do what you do quite the way you do it!
