I Am Who God Says I Am

When the storms of life hit, we mistake the storm for the lack of God’s Presence when, in fact, God said He would never leave us nor forsake us.  Israel had found itself in the midst of chaos because of their own sin, not because God had left them.  God hasn’t abandoned you.  Even in the storm, He’s still taking care of you every moment of every day.

God spoke to Gideon again, telling him to go in the strength that he already had, and he would save Israel from Midian.  If God is sending you, you cannot fail.  Go with the strength that’s already on the inside of you.  God knows who you are and what you have.  He just needs your obedience and your faith.

But Gideon is like us.  He still didn’t quite understand.  “But Lord, how can I save Israel?  My family is the weakest in Manasseh, and I’m the least in my family.”  You want me to do that?  We try to hit God with all kinds of excuses.  I’m too young or too old; I don’t have enough money, enough education.  I need more resources.  No one will help me.  He’s not asking for all of that.  When will we learn to just tell God, “Yes”?

God reminded Gideon, “I will be with you.  You are not alone.  I’m all you need.  You will smite them all as one man.”  Gideon desperately wanted to believe it, but he needed a little help, a sign.  Actually he needed three signs! And God confirmed His word three times!  He knows us.  He knows that sometimes we need an extra push.  Have you ever asked God for a sign?
