What Is Your Story?

As I look back now seven years later, obeying the call to move was incredibly profound.  I packed up everything, before even having a job or a place to live.  And on the last day of my employment at the school where I was teaching, I got a phone call with a job offer, one that moved me outside the classroom.  That was May 31, 2013.  Four days later, I traveled to the city to find a place to live, and four days after that, I moved to a new city with no family or friends.  (And I started at my new job two days later.) I can admit that my head was spinning.  It was one of those “and suddenly” moments I have experienced throughout my life.  God knows me, so He knows that I had to be moved in such a manner so that I would not talk myself out of going.  It was not a move that I could have planned as seamlessly as He did.  I didn’t have time to make a “pros and cons” list, to plan every single detail, or ask anyone for their opinion.  I just moved because God said so.

I have learned to appreciate the adventure that is my life.  God wrote my story before the very foundation of the world.  (He wrote yours too!)  He is a masterful Writer!  I am learning to enjoy the moments as I walk out the pages and into the new chapters of my life.  Some days are difficult, and others are incredibly fulfilling and exciting.  And knowing that Jesus is right there walking with me beside the still waters, through the lonely wilderness, through the intense heat of the fire, as well as in the green pastures brings me such great comfort—even in those times when I am in uncomfortable situations.

I just wanted to share that experience with you today.  It was really just one part of one chapter in my story.  My story contains so much more, and I’m sure I’ll share more in Manna meals to come.  I just wanted to encourage you, Sisters, to step out in faith and do what your Father has instructed and equipped you to do.  His hand is right there in all of it.  He wrote your story, so you can trust Him to see you through each page.

Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2)
