God continued to ask question after question. Of course, Job did not have the answer to any of them. The questions are beyond our understanding. Job began to realize how big God really is, and then he felt unworthy. He was left feeling humble with a repentant heart. In Job 42:1-6 Job replied to God. (I’ve summarized it.)
Job said, “I know You can do all things, no purpose of Yours can be withheld. I spoke of things I didn’t even understand; they were too wonderful for me to know because they were beyond my comprehension. I only have limited understanding through my limited perspective. God, You said, ‘Listen, I will speak. I will question you and you will answer me.’ My ears had heard you. I have heard all about You throughout my life, God. But now my eyes have seen You firsthand. Now I know of Your Greatness. I recognize Your Majesty and Your Glory. And now I despise myself and repent. I didn’t know You before, but I do now and I totally submit to You.”
I encourage you to meditate on that anytime you wonder why you are suffering. Take the time to see Who God really is and what He is accomplishing in and through you.
We all know what happened: God blessed Job with twice as much as he had lost. God blessed the latter part of his life more than the first.
Sisters, God knows where you are. He knows when you are hurting. But know this: He is Almighty. He is Wonderful. He is Excellent. He is Merciful. He is Gracious. He is Loving, and He is Forgiving. He can do anything. He is God all by Himself, and no matter what it looks like right now, He is Good!
