He’s Still Good

God began to ask Job some questions, to which Job had no answer.  As a matter of fact, between chapters 38-41, God asked Job 83 questions, and Job couldn’t answer even one of them.  God didn’t even address Job’s suffering or respond to Job’s questions about what seemed unfair.  God didn’t humiliate or condemn him.  He simply reminded Job to refocus and see who God really was: the Almighty, All-knowing, and Omnipresent One to ignite Job’s faith in God’s wisdom and His goodness – all without his receiving a direct answer to all of his questions.  I’ve had that experience, too.  God answered me without answering me.  He was saying, “Just let me be God.”

God asked Job many questions, but I’ll just share a few:

  • Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?
  • Who placed the boundaries of how far the seas can go?
  • Have you ever given orders to the morning or shown the dawn its place?
  • Do you send forth lightening and it reports to you, here we are?
  • Did you place the constellations in the sky? Can you cause them to be seen in their season?
  • Do you satisfy the hunger of the lions and provide food to the ravens?
  • Do you control every aspect of nature?
