That one verse stood out to me: But Jesus said, “No more of this.” And He touched the man’s ear and healed him. Think about it. If He took the time to heal Malchus, a man who was there as an enemy, why would we doubt that He will take care of us, His precious children? It also made me think of the many times I have not operated within the will of God, but He still took care of me. I was not in a crowd to condemn Him, but I have misrepresented Jesus on many occasions. In spite of all of that, Jesus chose to heal, restore, redeem, inspire, protect, love, and keep me, extending to me grace and mercy time and time again. And yes, He has said, “No more of this,” and ceased so many storms in my life. Cancer tried to kill me—but no more of this. Depression tried to suffocate me—but no more of this. Divorce tried to handicap me—but no more of this. Struggle seemed to be all around me: heartbreak, loss, debt, doubt, fear, anxiety, unforgiveness, and hopelessness—but no more of this. Jesus said, “No more of this,” and then He healed that man. I’ve read it time and time again throughout my life, but today it took on a whole new meaning—even as I’m typing right at this very moment. “No more of this,” and then healing takes place.
Then God took me to another verse, Matthew 7:7-11(NLT).
“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
“You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask Him.
Ladies, God knows what you need. He knows before you even ask for it. But His Word is clear: He does instruct us to ask. And He says to keep asking, keep seeking, and keep knocking. God wants us to be persistent. Don’t get tired of pursuing what God has promised for your life. He has not forgotten you. How much more will your Heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask Him? I love the examples Jesus gives here. If your child asks for bread, you know you wouldn’t give the child a stone. Think about that. You give your loved ones your best. Why would we expect anything less from our Heavenly Father? Revisit those petitions you’ve placed before God. Call them out and believe God for them. He has not forgotten you. Ladies, God’s got you right where you are!
