Stuck in the Mud

God sent me a trusted friend to lift me so that I could stand. You need people around you who can pray the heavens down on your behalf. And I’m talking about real friends, those people who see, know, and love the real you—not the one who shows up at church or work. You need people who will hold you accountable, people who will love you through your worst moments. You need people who can speak truth with grace, not people who will tell you want you want to hear all the time.

A true friend recognized that I was stuck and reached out to lift me. (Can your friends rely on you to see them and be moved to act accordingly?) I needed that helping hand so that I could get my footing. And it wasn’t sin or punishment that placed me in the position in the first place. I hadn’t lost sight of God or failed Him. I wasn’t trying to run from what He said to do. I wasn’t placing my will above His will. I was diligently seeking Him the whole time. It was really a huge reminder that I need Him every day (all day) to accomplish what He has purposed for me to do. Because those moments when you think, “I got this,” you really don’t—unless you are being led by the Spirit of God.

If you are feeling stuck, open your mouth and pray, open your heart to receive, and reach out for God’s helping hand. He’s right there, I promise.
