This time, the priests have been instructed to step into the river. Verse 11 goes on to say, Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth is crossing over before you into the Jordan. Can you imagine that? The ark of the covenant is in front of them. The Presence of God is leading the way. Think about that for a moment. The Presence of God is crossing before you. He is making the way for you. He is removing obstacles for you. All you need to do is step out.
And then look at verse 13: “And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests who bear the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of the Jordan, that the waters of the Jordan shall be cut off, the waters that come down from upstream, and they shall stand as a heap.” Not only do you need to step into the river, but your feet need to rest in the river. We are so quick to try to run through life. We want to get to the destination without truly appreciating the journey to get there. Be still right there in the river because God is moving right where you are. He is requiring something different from you this time, but it is for your making. God is preparing you for your next level. Don’t compare this experience to the last one—you are in a different place in God, so it’s not the same. God needs something more from you and it begins with your faith and is followed by your obedience. Are you willing to get your feet wet this time?
